About Steven M. Nesbit
Greetings,
I have devoted my professional career to academics, communications and kids. Retired from the public schools since 2006, I am employed as an Adjunct Professor of Communications at York College, PA.
My Scottish heritage is important to me. I am a seventh generation Nesbit born in York Co., PA. The Hibernia Plantation was established prior to the Revolutionary War. Growing up in rural America in the 1950's, I was taught the importance of a good education, and I learned at an early age that pedagogy was to be my life's most important purpose.
My childhood interests included the outdoors, sports, music, and the performing arts; and, of course, being a product of the 1960's, I am a first generation classic rock and blues enthusiast.
Upon graduation from college, I returned to the town of my birth to begin my teaching career. During those 32 years, I worked with students and adults both in and out of the classroom. I coached baseball and wrestling, directed plays and musicals, and trained a speech team.
My writing interest first surfaced as a result of my love of the performing arts. I wrote a collection of short plays which won third place in a college writing contest, and my writing really developed during the early 1990's when I worked as a stringer writing entertainment articles, press releases and play reviews for local newspapers. Having taught traditional English and Language Arts for more than 30 years, my command of the language coupled with the creativity and fluency of a wordsmith has given me the gift of written expression.
Today, my interests still include sports, music and the performing arts. For fun and relaxation, I collect antique baseball equipment, explore genealogical research, listen to Celtic music, and enjoy being in the audience.
